Armley Mills ghost hunts in Leeds are ones that rarely disappoint. From the unexplainable voices heard to the sudden smells of tobacco and alcohol. This is one location that can send a shiver down your spine
THE LOCATION
Armley Mills, now formally called the Leeds Industrial Museum, is nestled along the river Aire in Armley. Now a Grade II listed building, this location is brimming with paranormal activity and is one of the most popular locations in Leeds for a perfect night of ghost hunting. Dating back as far as 1707 before being partially rebuilt following a devastating fire, Armley Mills was a powerhouse of Leeds churning out cotton and textiles. The mill became world famous and operated until 1971.
Stepping inside the mill, you’ll discover just how grueling and tough working in these times were. From the ground floor with its large machinery where children would have once scurried underneath, to the basement where the steam equipment is located. There is even a small cinema room which was later added to the building and which still operates to this day.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
Armley Mills has an endless list of paranormal activity. Figures of children have been witnessed on the ground floor nearby the machinery, the sounds of ladies humming have also been heard. The frequent smell of tobacco and alcohol is another unexplainable event that happens often. The Cinema is believed to have a male spirit who makes himself known, and it’s been reported that he does what he possibly can to make anyone in the cinema room make a quick exit.
