THE LOCATION

Lowlands mansion, located in an unsuspecting suburb of Liverpool, has certainly become a popular investigation site and it’s clear to see why.

From the outside, the mansion still looks as grand as what it likely did when first built many decades ago, hidden away between tall trees. Today the venue is used for many a community event by day, and spook hunting after dark.

This was Haunted Escapes first time investigating this grand Grade II listed building. As with any first time location, we go in totally blind by avoiding any kind of research.

PRE EVENT WALKAROUND

As you enter the grounds through the large double gates, you are greeted by the stunning Italian style exterior of this great building.

Crossing the threshold via the double door entrance, immediately you are greeted by the immense and well-kept staircase that splits left and right before proceeding up to the first and second floors.

Head up the red-carpeted staircase to the first floor, you’ll find the nursery room and other bedrooms. The only grandeur present are the small hints which display a glimpse of how the rooms would have once looked.

Finally, via a back staircase or better known as the servant’s staircase, you wind up on the second and final floor. This has a four-sided landing area where you can peer down, or peer up to look at the highly detailed ceiling decor along with some small servant quarters.

As the group encouraged and asked further questions, it was deemed that a spirit of a small child was present. This inquisitive spirit was very much drawn to two females in the group. It felt as though this child felt safe in their presence. When asking these females what they do for their jobs, they answered they work in healthcare, which could explain why the child felt drawn and at ease with these two particular females.

VIGIL THREE

Continuing where we left off, and with a fresh group, rotated in. It’s time again to attempt more activity and uncover who else would make themselves known to us.

The experiment would remain the same, however, the activity was more physical this time around. As the guests were huddled around the small wooden table, suddenly a guest reported the sensation of being touched. This was only the start for this particular person!

The group believed the spirit this time was a male. This male energy was focused on a male guest who, after being touched, felt extremely uncomfortable. He explained that he felt lightheaded with the need to sit down. As the guest was taking those moments to recover by sitting on the floor in the corner of the room, the remaining group members continued to call out.

With the calling out continuing, we were caught unaware. The male guest, who had to take a step back, suddenly slumped down and proclaimed that an unseen force had attempted to push and pull him. This was such a strong burst of physical activity that it caused many questions being asked. Needless to say, if the spirit presence was able to conjour up such strength, it was likely a good thing that the vigil was in its final moments!

VIGIL FOUR

For the final vigil of the night, it was time to finish how we began. A full group session in one of the large bedrooms on the first floor.

Each guest, who was now forming a large circle around the edge of the room, was to each ask a question one by one. As each guest took their turn, subtle responses were detected. Shadows witnessed, area’s of the room appearing to go darker before returning lighter.

Perhaps the most interesting occurrence was the lone music box that had been present on the first-floor landing area. This piece of equipment was frequently triggered, with most of the eerie tunes being played on command.
