THE LOCATION

Now officially known as the Leeds Industrial Museum, Armley Mills sits proudly along the River Aire in Armley. Now a Grade II listed building, this location is brimming with paranormal activity and is one of the most popular locations in Leeds for a perfect night of ghost hunting. Armley Mills, established in 1707 and later rebuilt after a devastating fire, thrived as a powerhouse in Leeds, producing cotton and textiles. Armley Mills was a powerhouse of Leeds churning out cotton and textiles. The mill became world famous and operated until 1971.

Stepping inside the mill, you’ll discover just how grueling and tough working in these times were. From the ground floor with its large machinery where children would have once scurried underneath, to the basement where the steam equipment is located. A small cinema room was added to the building and continues to operate to this day.

Armley Mills is a hotspot for paranormal activity, with eerie sightings and unsettling sensations reported frequently. People have witnessed figures of children near the ground-floor machinery, and eerie humming from women echoes through the air. The recurring scent of tobacco and alcohol only deepens the mystery. In the Cinema, a male spirit is said to make his presence known—doing whatever he can to ensure visitors don’t linger for long.
