CLITHEROE CASTLE GHOST HUNT OCTOBER 2022

Take a journey with Haunted Escapes and experience the Clitheroe Castle ghost hunt from our Halloween October 2022 visit. Setting the scene. Breaking down the location. Reporting the unexplainable.

THE LOCATION

Haunted Escapes previous visit to this location was in May 2022, and it’s only right to say that early summer visit provided some classic ghostly activity. You can take a read over the first blog report from this fantastic location here.

A return visit to Clitheroe Castle & Museum where ghostly activity has previously been witnessed. Would Clitheroe Castle & Museum come alive after dark, or would the grounds remain silent?

THE INVESTIGATION

VIGIL ONE

For the first vigil of the night, we had two areas to investigate. The first stopping point was the kitchen to take part in a classic Ouija board session whilst also having some EMF meters dotted around the room for those who prefer not to place a finger on the planchet.

The Ouija board was not to be the main form of communication, as the planchet simply did not want to move.

Strangely enough, the EMF meters and Maglites were to be the main form in interaction from the spirit’s of the past. With only a small amount of input from the group, the lights on the EMF meters were hitting the red, which indicates quite a significant shift in the EMF fluctuations. The same was also said for the Maglites which were blinking on and off on command.

Time was ticking away fast on the vigil. As the group was unable to determine who was interacting with the equipment, we decided to move to the study area before changing groups.

The study, which has a very male dominated atmosphere, has a large desk and leather chair with some interesting ornament designs housed inside dark wood and glass bookcases. Merely standing in this particular room is enough to put anyone on edge.

As the group encouraged someone to come forward, it wasn’t long before things began to happen. Behind the large desk and chair hangs a picture. This picture has a Perspex cover to preserve the artwork, and this provided a few of us with one of those jump scare moments! Clear audible sounds of knocking swiftly followed by what can only be described as sharp fingernails screeching across the clear Perspex covering the artwork.

Needless to say, standing in total darkness, in a confined space and hearing those noises caused a domino effect of a quick shift, one group member at a time darting the one side of the room!

VIGIL TWO

Moving into the second vigil, the group was to be split down into smaller, more intimate groups. One half was to visit the kitchen, while the remaining half would head back to the study.

Entering back into the study, the atmosphere was one of unease. Whoever this room belonged to previously most definitely had left their mark. With the group resisting the atmosphere, calling out began.

As with the first group’s findings, the same unexplainable knocking on the hanging picture was heard again with some of the group sensing a connection to a male energy. Could this have been a former resident who spent their time in this room?

Continuing on and enticing this male energy to interact more by asking them to use the group’s energy however they wish, the room began to develop darker areas which were focussed around the corner where the chair and desk were located.

It seemed like whoever this male energy was, the more that we permitted them to use our energy, the more responsive the male became.

The real highlight of this vigil was towards the end of the session. We were treated to some small but impressive light anomalies centred just above the desk. The lights altered between white and orange before finally a shadow being visible moved along the wall just behind the grand leather chair.

VIGIL THREE

Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP’s), was to be the investigation style as we ushered a new group into the study. For any seasoned ghost hunter, you sometimes have a session where, no matter the amount of input given to get some spooky activity, the spirit world gives nothing back. Sadly, after attempting for a long time to have something happen, we decided to head into the fourth and final vigil for a full group call and wait experiment.

VIGIL FOUR

A new, never before investigated area was the final stop of the night. An old courthouse which is now an art gallery was the place for a full group circle experiment.

As the group formed a meandering circle around the area, this particular vigil was a close first place for activity. The courthouse provided loud clear audibles of knocking and footsteps from every corner of the room. As each sound was acted, it gave huge delight to the group, which raised the energy levels of the room.

Was this unknown person who was with us feeding off the group’s high energy making it easier for them to respond? This was one of those almost too good to be true vigils that happen. As we tried to debunk what we were hearing. We could not find any explanation for these mysterious knocks and footsteps that were walking amongst us!

SUMMARY

The Clitheroe Castle Halloween ghost hunt yielded excellent activity. Nerves were tested, reflexes were flexed in the study and everyone’s ears were treated to unknown footsteps. The Halloween ghost hunt was a treat with not a trick in sight.
